Custom error pages for 500s and other exceptions now have a proper API. The 'handleExceptionsUsing()' method lets you render Inertia error pages with full access to shared data 🛡️

Now dovetailing from yesterdays "services" query refactor, of which is being LOADED into our CLS/FCP SSR refactor (having fun yet?), we now have TWO streams of documentation to onboard our QA.

Documentation page titled 'Glossary' with three main sections. First section defines Server-Side Rendering (SSR) as a technique where servers generate full HTML before sending to browsers, noting it improves SEO and performance. Second section explains Circular Dependency as when Module A imports Module B which imports Module A, creating an import cycle that causes initialization errors. Includes example showing routes.js importing ErrorPage.js which imports Navigation.js which imports back to routes.js, and notes this is especially problematic in SSR. Third section defines Hydration as the process where client-side JavaScript takes over server-rendered HTML to make it interactive, noting it occurs in imports/startup/client/index.js using React 18's hydrateRoot() function. Documentation page showing three concepts. First section explains Dynamic Import as a function that loads modules asynchronously at runtime, with code examples comparing static import syntax versus dynamic import using await. Notes it breaks circular dependencies and is used in the application for collections and routes. Second section describes Lazy Loading (React.lazy) as a React feature for on-demand component loading, showing code examples using lazy() to import ErrorPage and Page404 components. Third section defines SSRDataContext as a custom React Context located in imports/ui/contexts/SSRDataContext.js that shares pre-fetched data between server and client via window.INITIAL_DATA to prevent hydration mismatches. Issue Overview page detailing a circular dependency bug. 'What Was the Bug?' section explains the error 'ReferenceError: Cannot access ErrorPage before initialization' occurred during server-side rendering. Root Cause section lists a 5-step circular dependency chain: Server startup imported routes, Routes imported ErrorPage and Page404, Error pages imported PageWrapper, PageWrapper imported EditControls, and EditControls referenced routing code already being evaluated. 'When Did It Occur?' section notes it happened during SSR initialization on every homepage request, causing white screens. 'How Was It Fixed?' section lists three strategies: Lazy Loading Error Pages using React.lazy(), Dynamic Server Imports using await import() for routes and collections, and Lazy Loading EditControls to prevent immediate dependency imports. Affected Files documentation page showing modifications to fix issue AC-870 across 11 files. First file shown is imports/startup/both/routes.js (lines 52-62) with changes including: adding a comment about dynamic import for HomePage, converting ErrorPage and Page404 from static imports to React.lazy(), and wrapping error routes in Suspense with FullPageLoader fallback. Shows before/after code comparison with static imports changed to lazy-loaded imports. Second file is imports/startup/server/index.js (lines 23-26, 170-172) with changes including: adding dynamic imports for collections (Pages, Blog, Testimonials) in loadInitialData() function, changing routes import from static to dynamic using await import(), and adding comments explaining circular dependency avoidance.

We stole this from @cpojer.bsky.social via twitter and it works pretty well. Also when we build the app via github actions we post the version number to an API and save it in the DB, then return it one of our regularly called APIs and use the result of that to decide whether to reload the page too
