Councilors postponed a resolution to support Wells Township’s SRF planning document until May 28 after raising concerns that the engineering plan was not in the packet and that potential rate and fiscal impacts for Eskanaba ratepayers were unclear.

After extended discussion about landfill leachate odors and who should cover treatment costs, Eskanaba council approved purchasing a permanent flow monitor (FL1500) for up to $40,000 to meter landfill discharges and improve billing and chemical treatment accuracy.

John Stapleton of Delta Area Transit Authority told Eskanaba council a proposed countywide millage on Aug. 4 would fund expanded service — earlier mornings, later evenings, Saturdays and countywide demand-response service — and supply required local match to unlock state and federal funds.
