Just had a knock down drag out fight with United Healthcare over $28 they stole from me that resulted in me threatening to contact the Oregon Attorney General and they are in violation of our state escheatment laws, and they said yeah they know but they only follow FEDERAL laws LMAOOOOOOOOOOO ☠️💀🪦

You can check with a variety of sites to see if you have unclaimed funds due to escheatment or some other process. Here's one of them that works for the USA and Canada:

FWIW, I worked for Big Bank for years, and they hate them. Closing/moving a branch becomes a huge problem. Escheatment of physical property is a real problem that takes years to resolve.

Not true. It’s about assets being delivered to the state when they have been idle for a predetermined number of years. If somebody has passed then individuals are free to seek letters of appointment before escheatment timeframes have been reached.

I once explained escheatment to some boomer in Ohio, he said, “Oh so BIDEN wants to take my money huh??” I explained these are state laws, so he should take it up with OH.

So Dillard's is the latest controlled company to choose to reincorporate out of Delaware, and, as expected, it listed "frivolous litigation" as a reason but this was a new one:

Even if courts eventually rule it's legal escheatment, this is money Ohio could have used for literally anything else — but sports team owners were shouting the loudest, so they're the ones who'll end up getting the benefit of all those uncashed checks.

Escheatment! This was one of my favorite duties as a bookkeeper bc I had to reach out to people to tell them they had unclaimed funds w/ us and they'd get happy. Filing the reports to turn over the money with various states sucked though. 😂
