One of my favourite Hiberno-English words is oxter: 'put that under your oxter' my Dad says, ie carry it under your arm. Today I came across oxtercogging - supporting someone under the armpits. According to E. Estyn Evans, to oxtercog also means to be arm-in-arm with someone, on intimate terms. ❤️

fun fact: one of the reasons that the Bryn Estyn children's home scandal took so long to come to light is that almost everyone locally believed it was a revenge plot against care workers who had stood for the council without first joining the masons.

The irony is that even if it was because schools have lacked focus, why have they lacked focus? I don’t suppose it would be anything to do with their Estyn recommendations? 🙄
