#EthicsWashing
isn't ethicswashing a thing already

There are no responsible uses of AI in evaluating research funding applications. Just calling it ‘responsible’ doesn’t make it so. #EthicsWashing #GenAI
They must demarcate the responsible uses of AI in evaluation, with research funding and research performing organisations jointly leading actions in the interest of the research sector and research communities.

Exposing the all-too-frequent hollowness of #ethicswashing and "Corporate Social Responsibility." #whicheverwaythewindblows

Yep, to be sure, first priority is poison the competition. The ethicswashing is just a nice-to-have.

I'm in favor of all of these different forms of selfishness — and prefer all of them to Dario's heartfelt concerns about security.

Ooooo, personally I'd put it under ethicswashing or have ethicswashing be under philosophywashing!!
August 10, 2026 at 12:30 PM
I already thought of:
- "Laborwashing" (Red; "AI will liberate workers by alleviating them from boring labor" shit)
- Greenwashing
- Ethicswashing (blue)
- Pinkwashing (I think they do pinkwashing too lol)
I got inspired from DecolonizePalestine's "Rainbow washing" page and also the term "critical washing" from Suarez et al. and I made this page on my website! Keep in mind, it's a huge WIP and there's a lot to be done. What color would you fellows like to see?

From ethicswashing to outright ethicsbashing, it is tempting to believe the project of public ethics is a waste of energy. Yet, despite the inefficiency of ethics, or perhaps because of it, the significance of public ethics persists, not least for matters of governance. +

The bigger threat I see re: pseudoscience & corporate #ethicswashing/ #participationwashing actually falls more into the “people who have absolutely no clue about philosophy (and zero skills in logical reasoning) try to legitimize bogus ideas by using fancy philosophy-esque words” category (9/n)

(2) #Participationwashing, as an analogous phenomenon to #ethicswashing, rains a key threat (yet surmountable, if taken seriously) in this area. See my @neuripsconf.bsky.social position paper for further discussion: openreview.net/pdf?id=FjxyA...

I love (and studied) Philosophy but have a sinking feeling a rise in those 'jobs' mean they're cover for AI company ethics - ethicswashing?

Just another form of greenwashing, ethicswashing by another tech bro. gizmodo.com/anthropic-ro...

AI ethicswashing
A lot of AI safety is a grift and the moment they have to do anything that requires Anthropic to actually handle a safety issue that exists in the here and now they relent. They don’t care. They never have.

That might be valuable for me to dig into anyway. I'm interested in a particular paper that gained currency in the robots in healthcare literature. "Ethicswashing" describes what's going on pretty well.
February 12, 2026 at 4:37 PM
the "ethicswashing" literature gets into that a bit, though not in the fully general meta sense

"European Union is starting to distance itself from US Big Tech monopolies with countries moving towards tech sovereignty, the AI Skills Hub is one example of how, conversely, the UK is moving away from sovereignty to greater dependency" Regulatory hallucinations by GAFAM & #ethicswashing, as ever

More #ethicswashing rather than real #AIregulation
India’s AI governance guidelines aim to shape norms rooted in safety, inclusion, and the public good. But while they leave the door open for mandatory obligations, in their current form, these voluntary commitments stand a chance only if backed by enabling conditions, writes Shefali Malhotra.

lmao the ethicswashing of this. so right bestie, the generative ai absolutely "respects" my craft just because your program doesn't snoop in my local files. don't look at how the genai came to exist tho don't worry about that :) :)

“Blurred the line?”

Surely there is a simpler way to describe wholesale corruption.

In other words, you need to do more than just stop sanewashing Trump’s visible mental decline. You have to cease ethicswashing as well.
