I know many years ago my father-in-law got a Eurailpass, got on a train in Amsterdam, got off the train wherever it looked interesting, and got back on a later train, for like three weeks. Just had to end up back in Amsterdam for the flight home. (Is Eurailpass still a thing?)

Ja, im Liegewagen mit Fremden zu reisen ist nicht jedermanns Sache. Ich kann daher verstehen, dass Joey Hadden ein Single-Abteil bevorzugt. Aber sie hat auch nur 44$ zusätzlich zum Eurailpass gezahlt.
I spent 11 hours in a shared sleeper cabin on an OBB Nightjet train from Austria to Italy. It was bumpy and uncomfortable.

3 month pass cost around $400 and it was another $10 to reserve a sleeper car. Incredible value. I imagine it's probably considerably more expensive now, though. On the other hand, Europe got larger!

speaking of trains, I was on a moving train when I captured these, and others 😊 good memories... that was such a wonderful time, I'd like to do it again soon

Ha, I've done that.....I've got a Eurailpass from 20 years ago I use as a bookmark
Two years ago I picked up a book for the first time in a while and noticed the bookmark was a printed boarding pass from 2014.

Good to hear. Certainly, they do trains better than even the Swiss nowadays. I've traveled overnight on both Amtrak and for two months on Eurailpass, and America has a long way to go.

i was bumming around europe at the time on a eurailpass so it wasn't *that* out of the way but still eyebrow raising for the very polite bureaucrats who at the time (late 80s) were still figuring out the whole internet thing

Sometimes... I had been living with memories of exploring Europe in my youth with a Eurailpass, where I slept like a baby. But I'm much older now, and it wasn't as easy.

Cuando todavía era bueno el programa, el Itaú. Hasta canjeamos dos eurailpass a puro punto y estuve así 🤏🏼 de canjear pasajes a Japón.
