LV filling pressure: advices to keep it simple. Look at mitral flow (decT) and particularly lungs (LUS/CXR/high oxygen requirements). Points out that E/E’ is not validated in critical care, and does not track changes in pressure. #echofirst #EuroEcho #FOAMcc

Yes, amlyoid leads to LA enlargement (and out of proportion abnormal strain as we learned at EuroEcho) but it's not the underlying reason in this case. EKG ist normal SR and not low-voltage btw.

Lochy: Very important!!! Tamponade post cardiac surgery can be regional (focal hematoma) and be a difficult diagnosis. Resterneotomy May be necessary if suspicion is high with inconclusive echo. Large pleural effusions can lead to tamponade physiology. #EuroEcho #FOAMcc
