PUBMED is down. This is disaster !!
We do not have the system and organization to replace it. (EuroPMC is great but not a replacement)
It is crystal clear that we cannot depend on critical systems provided by a single provider.
European reaction has to include science and science infrastructures.

Here's the same paper in EuroPMC, which has a mirror of all of Pubmed: europepmc.org/article/MED/... - the USA is not the only place with records

re: PubMed being DOGE'd / censored - don't see any evidence of this. You can't compare e.g EuroPMC searches with PubMed ones directly (saw @franknorman.bsky.social point this out on LinkedIn). By default EuroPMC searches lots of indexes: if you specify PubMed the numbers are much closer

We migrated all PubMed links on HemOnc.org to EuroPMC several weeks ago - looking like a prescient decision! EuroPMC also houses the full free texts when available. @europepmc.org

As I recall EuroPMC is a mirror. It will not show new content PubMed is unable to process because of the shutdown

Europmc is great but It does not have the agreements with the publishers, workflows and curation of the PMC submission system.
The many novelties and services of EuroPMC are based on the existence & accessibility of PMC from where it gets the majority of the data.
This situation can/should change

I panicked when I first saw the notices, but PubMed and clinicaltrials.gov are both still being updated. ~40 HIV-related papers added to PubMed since yesterday. EuroPMC mostly still a mirror according to this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe_...

Though I can’t figure out how to get my endnote ref manager to talk to europmc (like it does with pubmed) for easy citation imports.

I think it was EuroPMC website. If you register an account with them they have a good help desk.

#EuroPMC hosted by @emblebi can be an alternative when #PubMed is down, and perhaps will be soon a valid alternative in all cases. The outcome is larger, not exactly matching that of PubMed yet. EuroPMC includes also preprints, books and protocols

Good q! I assume the former as it’s “PubMed/MEDLINE” in the EuroPMC interface and the MEDLINE bit has to come from the NLM. But I guess if it came to it you could break out the two bits…

I mean, I get it. The scenario's plausible which is scary enough. I wonder if EuroPMC is tweaking any policies about how it handles deletions in the daily snapshots

Personnellement je crée des alertes sur les sujets qui m'intéressent sur Pubmed ou EuroPMC, et m'inscrit aux Table of contents des revues majeurs de ma discipline.
Reserchgate est parfois utile aussi pour cela.

I was thinking a bit about this. Obviously there EuroPMC, but although copying the data over is one thing, there is also a need to replicate the processes of finding and adding new data.
That needs funding.

yep - and it's a mirror rather than redundant, so IIRC if content does not go into PMC in the first place then it doesn't go to EuroPMC
