Eurostar has a new CEO

But is there any chance anything will change, given his background is so similar to his predecessor’s?

In Eurostar Terminal at St Pancras. Time to leave my real life and return to Belgian hibernation 🥲

Last leg of the Interrail adventure. Lyon-Paris-London. Been brilliant and such good value for money. Will definitely be using it again soon to get my fix of European cities and football.

Eurostar security:
sainsburys bag containing a disassembled laser cutter - no problem! 😌

x-ray dosimeter badge that can’t go through an x-ray machine - are you a terrorist?!

Customer service response times for Southern trains (20 working days) and Eurostar (28 working days!!!) are, let’s be clear, not the timeframes academics have to respond to students within.

Deeply funny (if only maybe to me) that when you come out of the channel tunnel on the Eurostar the train announcement in English says "welcome to the UK" but the French and Dutch ones say "welcome to England".

Today's shift: Standby at St Pancras. Stayed on the island this time and bumped into my mate Abdel. A good laugh as always.

I would say broadly speaking the difference is just that Kings Cross has a lot more state capacity because central government/St Pancras Ltd/Eurostar pays for the policing around the station and Coal Drops Yard Inc or w/e it's called pays for the security around the station.

ABSOLUTELY. Eurostar is great as are the other continental high speed networks.

In my experience Eurostar are pretty cynical anyway

Also a Eurostar return London-Brussels is cheaper if you book ahead than an off-peak return London-Doncaster

Wembley Park/Kings Cross: all good!

Eurostar: AAA accessibility team, fast through security, now in Premium Lounge for coffee and FUD (no gluten free bread, thankfully brought my own).

Assistance have already confirmed they know where I am.

EUROSTAR ASSISTANCE is always SUPERB
Good morning and welcome to today’s TfL in a wheelchair!

Chalfont: gate wouldn’t read my card because the chair sticks too far forward for sensors

Fast to Aldgate suddenly terminates at Wembley Park, told to change platforms (2 lifts). Watch empty Aldgate train pull in on platform we just left 😑

I am legally obliged to leave the Schengen area today. I therefore booked a three-and-a-half-hour gap to connect to my Eurostar in Brussels, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks to Deutsche Bahn it looks like I will nevertheless miss my Eurostar and end up overstaying. 🫠

There should be a feature in @railmagazine.bsky.social about the Regional Eurostar project soon. I was on it 30 years ago!
