I never watched the O.C. but I am a fan of his wife Morena Baccarin so I've heard about this. I'm not very optimistic anybody will pay to watch this on Eventive. I'd never even heard of Eventive until reading that article. He should just put it on Youtube w/ donations on.

I’d say it’s syntax (and lexical semantics). The first “have” is a possessive verb subcategorizing for a DP. The second one is a causative verb, subcategorizing for a VP. The latter is eventive so the simple present would only be habitual.

Assuming you are talking VOD, the easiest is probably vimeo with a rental option or eventive. If you mean a live, timed broadcast, that's more complicated but there are options for that too. I've been running online film festivals for years.
