I don’t play Forza, I’ve only ever had a passing interest in Gears of War, Starfield didn’t really interest me, same goes with Hellblade, and that’s not even getting into the cancelled games like Everwild or Perfect Dark. Xbox has been a joke the second that Activision merger went through.

2/2 not letting them cook their new game Everwild, and shoving em under Activision.

Fucking insanity.

Rare tendría varios proyectos en desarrollo tras la cancelación de Everwild, pero su futuro dependería de las decisiones de Activision.

Give the Tatarian Maple thirty seconds and it will change your mind

The winged seeds ripen a hot rose pink long before they dry to brown, so the whole tree looks like it is in flower in August.

Everything about the Grass Moth is a solution to a problem

At rest it rolls its wings into a tight tube and sits head-up on a grass blade, which is why the group is also called the grass veneers.

The Bush-cricket looks ordinary right up until it isn't

The ears are on the front legs, just below the knee, so a bush-cricket listens with its shins.

Most people have seen a Lesser Pearl. Very few have looked at one.

The flat, fully spread resting posture is the quickest way to pick it out, because most of its relatives sit with the wings tucked into a narrow roof.

The Broadleaf Plantain is far stranger than it lets on

So faithful to human footpaths that early settlers called it White Man's Footprint, it seemed to spring up wherever trails were worn.

Nature built the Wolf Spider for one job and it shows

It hunts on foot instead of spinning a web, the mother carries her egg sac attached to her spinnerets, and the spiderlings then ride on her back.

then they got sent to the Kinect mines, and tried to climb their way out with Sea of Thieves on a dead system. I still have no idea what Everwild was supposed to be. And now they're in the Call of Duty mines. They definitely deserved better, but Nintendo probably wouldn't have been any nicer

Only two projects to may knowledge:

Co-developing Battletoads 2020 with Dlala Studios

And developing the now-canceled Everwild.
September 24, 2026 at 1:12 AM
Someone mentioned Everwild already but they also did some co-development with Dlala on that Battletoads game back in 2020.

It was pretty mid but the following game fron Dlala (Illusion Valley) was at least way better and their upcoming one (Murals) looks pretty sick.

They were working on another game called Everwild but it got canned after the start of the Xbox layoffs and stuff, it was being helmed by Greg Mayles but after that happened he left Rare. Now they are just stuck doing just Sea of Theives

Have you ever finished something and realized you'd been holding your breath the entire time?
That's how I felt when I finally published The Lost Boys of Everwild.
I remember sitting there afterward and thinking...
I can finally exhale.
Not celebrate.
Not immediately think about what came next.

Microsoft: "Everwild is CANCELLED and everyone working on it (and a percentage of the Sea of Thieves devs) have been sacrificed on a BLODDY ALTAR to bless us all with a bountiful Copilot AI+ harvest next quarter🔥🔥🔥"

I hope footage of Rare’s Everwild leaks at some point.
September 22, 2026 at 4:35 PM
i feel that whatever traces were left of the old rare died along with everwild after that game was cancelled. i havent had any real hope of rare ever recovering again after that, not under microsoft at least, and this confirms that it's very much over for them

It was pretty morbidly funny how around the time we discovered King K. Rool and several other old Rare-era enemies were going to be appearing in Bananza, Rare lost both Everwild and also key staff like Gregg Mayles.

Nothing against sea of thieves of course but it just sucks after Everwild got canned

Fable survived nearly a decade of development because Xbox sees the franchise as vital to its gaming identity.
Why Xbox Didn’t Cancel Fable After 10 Years in Development
There was a point when I wouldn't have blamed anyone for assuming that Fable was never actually going to make it. The reboot was announced in 2020, but the project had already been in the works for years. Since then, we've watched Xbox cancel major projects, close studios, and reshape how it approaches game development. Everwild disappeared. Perfect Dark was cancelled. Other projects never made it to the finish line. And yet, somehow, Fable kept going. Now we have a better idea of why. According to Playground Games co-founder and Fable game director Ralph Fulton, the reboot survived its unusually long development cycle partly because people inside Xbox consider the franchise an important part of the company's identity. Speaking to The Guardian, Fulton said, “I genuinely think Fable is an important game. What has protected us over a long development cycle is that so many people within Xbox view Fable as vital to the DNA of the platform.” That is a pretty revealing comment, considering when you consider just how long this game has been in development. Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026: 17 Reveals, Game Pass & KojimaXbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 showcase featured new gameplay, release dates, Game Pass announcements and surprise updates on Kojima’s OD and PHYSINT.TechloyEmmanuel Umahi ## Fable has been in development for almost 10 years One of the easiest details to miss about the new Fable is that its 2020 announcement wasn't actually the beginning of the project. According to Fulton, Xbox signed the contract with Playground Games in 2017. That means the reboot is effectively arriving about a decade after development began. Xbox now lists Fable for release on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it will also comewith the game also coming to PlayStation 5. That makes the project's survival particularly interesting. The gaming industry has changed dramatically since 2017. Live-service games became a much bigger priority, development costs continued to rise, studios went through layoffs and restructuring, and Microsoft itself made some significant changes to its gaming business. Yet Fable remained. And Fulton believes the franchise's position within Xbox had something to do with that. “I would go a step further and say it’s important to video games as a whole. It offers a combination of elements that simply doesn’t exist anywhere else”, Fulton added. That second part is particularly important because Playground isn't simply trying to make another open-world RPG. It's trying to bring back Fable. ## Why is Fable so important to Xbox? The answer probably starts with what makes Fable different. ### This post is for subscribers only Become a member to get access to all content Subscribe now

Common sense prevails when it's involved with the money and the history of Microsoft forced Xbox to cancel alot of game development like Project Fantasy from IO Interactive or Everwild from Rare Studio. Konami fired Kojima and Sony no longer wants to fund Kojima Productions after the DS franchise.
