Google Cloud has announced the general availability of Google Cloud Managed Lustre, a high-performance storage solution for AI/ML and HPC workloads. Managed Lustre is powered by DDN's EXAScaler and offers four performance tiers with throughput ranging from 125 MB/s to 1000 MB/s per TiB of capacity, scalable up to 8 PB of storage capacity. The solution provides a POSIX-compliant, parallel file system that delivers consistently high throughput and low latency, making it ideal for high-throughput inference, large-scale model training, checkpointing, and data preprocessing. Managed Lustre is designed for highly parallel and random I/O, ensuring that compute resources are never starved for data. The solution offers flexible pricing and performance tiers, with all tiers providing sub-millisecond read latency and high single-stream throughput. Google Cloud's partnership with DDN brings together two industry leaders in high-performance computing and elastic cloud infrastructure, simplifying the deployment and management of large-scale AI and HPC workloads in the cloud. The solution is now globally accessible in multiple Google Cloud regions and integrates with the broader Google Cloud ecosystem. NVIDIA has expressed its support for the solution, which is expected to deliver uncompromising speed, scalability, and cost efficiency at scale. Users can get started with Managed Lustre by provisioning an instance in the Google Cloud console and connecting their compute instances or GKE clusters.

Japan has a long history of building domestic supercomputer architectures dating back to the 1980s. PEZY Computing is one player in Japan’s supercomputing scene alongside Fujitsu and NEC, and has taken several spots in the Green500 list. RIKEN’s Exascaler-1.4 used PEZY-SC chips to take first place in Green500’s November 2015 rankings. More recently, PEZY-SC3 placed 12th on Green500’s November 2021 list. PEZY presented their newest architecture, PEZY-SC4S, at Hot Chips 2025. While the physical product is not yet available, PEZY is presenting results of simulations and is talking about the architecture of SC4s.
