#ExcelToday
I sent this link round to colleagues the day before everyone had to pick their performance management targets (one of which is a "CPD" target) and to my delight/horror, several long-standing admin staffers told me they had decided to learn Excel this year for their CPD target. #ExcelToday
I ran a few CPD sessions for my school on how Excel can make life easier as a teacher this week. We looked at practical solutions to real-life teacher problems.

I've recorded them in case anyone finds them useful. (All the pupil data is made up.)

This evening, I've taught myself the TEXTJOIN, MID, and SEARCH functions. Can't work out why my IF SEARCH isn't returning the false value but an error when the true value returns fine...

Doing some fun looking up of classes of yr 12 students in order to know who to target to recruit more to #COREMaths using xlookup - so handy :D

My wife told me how she used excel to randomise her class list for a seating plan by adding a column next to their names with a random number in, and sorting by that column.

Excellent #ExcelToday work, couldn't be more proud of her nerdiness!

I used a vlookup to attach primary school comments to our year 7 maths class lists so that we have some info before their profiles are completed. Bosh!

I used #ExcelToday to make a tracker to plan when I'm going to write up to TWENTY SEVEN ucas references (without genAI) over the next 8 weeks...

To get dates automatically, you can type in two dates one week apart and then use the drag-fill method to have Excel automatically follow the pattern.

I did my seating plans in #ExcelToday too!
So today, I created seating plans for my school in Google Sheets. Each teacher gets a spreadsheet with tabs for each class and room, these have a layout of the room with a class list, and they then assign the students to desks.

I ran some inset on #ExcelToday at my school.

Ctrl-Shift-DownArrow to select a column of data was a particular highlight.

Text to columns was another one they enjoyed.

Blatantly copying #MathsToday, I would like to start a new thing where we share the little ways in which we use Excel to do admin and streamline our workload. Share how you have used #ExcelToday at school.
