Paying polluters cannot be the price for taking climate action in line with countries’ legal obligations. Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) turns the polluter pays principle on its head, allowing companies to demand damages when States move to phase out fossil fuels. It’s time to #ExitISDS

We have begged the UK to terminate the ECT’s sunset clause, but they haven’t. So we can look forward to 20 years of such cases, during which we’ll be treated as an offshore centre for US capital.

The thing no one mentions - Britain will end up being forced to pay this and much much more when Jingye take an ISDS claim. Yet Reynolds continues to put new ISDS clauses into trade deals we sign. It’s madness.
