Maybe this has been said elsewhere and more eloquently, but it feels like part of the problem with SCOTUS of late is that they view themselves not just as the final authority on the constitution and how it should be interpreted; they seem to view themselves as the embodiment of the constitution.

Congress has the power to do pretty much whatever it wants with the Supreme Court. It can expand the membership of the court, and it can punish it in several ways too.
