Internet Explorer6 (IE6)は、使えないスタイルシートが多く、スタイルシートでレイアウトすると画面が崩れたりした。IE7、IE8もPaddingとMarginの解釈が他のブラウザと異なっていたために、IEで合わせると他のブラウザでマージンの調整がうまくいかなかったりした。
なので、IE6～8の時代はTABLEタグでレイアウトした方がかえってブラウザごとの互換性が高くなるという悲しい状態で、僕のサイトも当時はずっとTABLEタグのレイアウトのままにしていた。
