A stunning false-color composite image of the Sun from the SOHO spacecraft's EIT instrument, capturing active regions, plasma loops, and a prominence. The image combines three extreme ultraviolet wavelengths, representing different temperatures in the Sun's upper atmosphere (red: 2 million, green: 1.5 million, blue: 1 million degrees Celsius). Taken on December 22nd, 2002, at the winter solstice.

A stunning image of the Sun's corona captured by the TRACE satellite. Intricate coronal loops, far hotter than the Sun's surface, are shown in extreme ultraviolet light. These loops, spanning vast distances, hint at the mystery of the corona's immense heat.
