Brabham winning the Monaco Grand Prix in his Cooper-Climax-T51, finishing 20 seconds clear of Tony Brooks (Ferrari D246). Maurice Trintignant was 3rd in his Rob Walker-entered Cooper.

Jackie Stewart (Tyrrell-Ford-004) had one of his poorer races, twice lapped & finishing 4th. Brian Redman was 5th in a McLaren-Ford-M19A. Chris Amon was the last point scorer, 6th in his Matra MS120C.

Jean-Pierre Beltoise drove the race of his life, dominating a wet Monaco Grand Prix in his BRM P160B. It would be the Frenchman's only Grand Prix victory. It was also the last of 17 Grand Prix wins for BRM.

Ronnie Peterson had a superb race in the ancient Lotus-Ford-72E, running 2nd in the wet. He changed to slicks, lost a minute in the pits & recovered from 7th to 4th. Patrick Depailler (Tyrrell-Ford-007) was 5th & Carlos Pace (Brabham-Ford-BT44B), 6th.

In a thrilling ending to the Monaco Grand Prix, race leader Jack Brabham (Brabham-Ford-BT33) locked up & skidded into a hay bale at the last corner of the last lap, handing victory to Jochen Rindt (Lotus-Ford-49C). Brabham was able to salvage 2nd place.
