"we replaced the 15 year old CPU in the FADECs with this Nvidia card from Newegg and now this 787 can fly for a week in one tank of gas!"

I think its because the 787 is full electrical and the short somehow caused the *entire* electrical system to go out including the FADECs

By the way, bit flips from space weather affecting flight hardware isn't something entirely new. Some engine FADECs had issues on Boeing aircraft, too.
Complex causes and consequences on hardware and software.

That’s cool! Definitely a side of controls I never quite got into, but I’ve peaked into PLC reddits before and it looks satisfying.

I worked on jet engine FADECs for a little while, but then switched to a more general embedded software focus 😊

The cockpit area mic audio should be pretty definitive. I hear those 4 pole switches make a positive sound. Two poles go to the EAFR(s) and two to the FADECs. The loop closes when the FADEC reports back to the EAFR. Ditto for the other side.

A human did this. The why is the mystery.

No, these things have FADECs. You'd have to do a little retuning, but the startup is extremely straightforward and repeatable
