It's produced by Rick Hall at his FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and became one of her highest charting pop hits. Hall suggested converting the Clarence Carter original, and Carter himself, along with Marcus Daniel and Wilbur Terrell, reworked the lyrics to turn it into "Tell Mama" from the original, "Tell Daddy."
