Speaking of, Parasite was cut with FCP7.
I know FCPX was controversial but still, at least there’s an option for a one time purchase.

I've transitioned to Premiere, and I haven't used FCP7 in years now.... I think I'm one good gig away from finally getting a computer from this decade.

Resolve is soooo much better but I understand being in a Workflow. I’m just glad I never gave up the FCP7 keyboard because that’s what they use by default

It's been SOOOOO long since I touched FCP7 that I know if I had to hop on it, by todays standards I'd be offput by how clunky it feels.

FCP7 is shitting the bed for my legacy VHS capture setup, but iMovie HD instantly saw the DVD deck's video with no setup at all.

My first job in post production, all the YT content was edited in FCP because, duh. We had one freelancer who used Premiere, and we literally laughed at him behind his back. Support ended for FCP7 within a few months of that and we went straight to Adobe, absolutely NO discussion of using FCPX.

i was in one of resolve’s hard-to-find free virtual classes (basically just following the free certification guidebooks) a few years back and the teacher dropped some KEY info. apparently a ton of the old devs from fcp7 joined resolve when apple neutered final cut to build it out. 🤯

100%… real filmmakers do not upgrade OS pointlessly, we'll lose access to apps, plug-ins, utilities, etc if we're not strategic. E.g. @laundrydayfilm.bsky.social was written & cut on a 2012 MacBookPro that is now my home theater server... and it still burns CDs and runs FCP7! #flex

FCP7 was the closest any NLE ever came to challenging Avid for pro work, would've been interesting to see what happened if Apple hadn't discontinued it

Didn’t exactly have that but a nice thing about FCP7 (the greatest to ever do it) was that when source files turn up missing, it lists the path it’s looking for.

That's cool. I used to maintain a legacy version of FCP7, as it was great for flattening multicams. Excited about this development.
