As I finally got around to playing FFVIIRe, I’ve been looking forward to this segment the entire time, and it does NOT disappoint.

It works, IMO, bc even when Genesis (mercifully) isn't around, there's a stageplay vibe to the pacing & delivery. I.E. Yuffie is toned way down, played like the film/stageplay role of an energetic girl who's in over her head, rather than going EEIIIAAAHH & HOOOOOOO & YAAAAA like she does in FFVIIRe.

So, when I first saw this movie, I was disappointed because I thought there wasn't enough of the FF series in it. Now I see that the opposite is true. They're gonna make the final scenes of FFVIIRE uncomfortably close to the ending of this movie. I mean it's already a good chunk of the way there

My stupid theory is the reason why FFVIIRE timeline happen is because Cloud's wish (perhaps as his dying wish since Soilder can't live long anyway) and maybe the planet grant that to him as a thank you gift for saving the planet or maybe because The last cetra's wish or her power

I played like 80 hours of FFXV and love it dearly but I never had a clue what was happening in combat. FFVIIRe, on the other hand, has my one of my favourite modern combat systems for all the reasons James lists. Once you realize it’s actually a RTwP system, it makes a lot more sense.

Lately I am constantly finding these conversations online about how localizations butcher the original meaning when it comes to japanese (specially with the FFVIIRE series), and I wanna be completley honest, I've yet to see one good example of this actually happening.
