The closure of the Sternberg Museum would be an unmitigated disaster for Hays, Kansas, a lovely community.
What’s doubly frustrating is that our legislature just approved $ for a Rural Justice Initiative to try to encourage new law grads to move to rural counties.

So when somewhere like FHSU has a budget shortfall and decides to behead its museum, people are shocked and also very naive about what can be done about it. "We should have a fundraiser! Call a local philanthropist!" Sure, that may buy you six months.

I am worried right now about Hays because of Fort Hays State which has pretty good size Hispanic student body and I don’t know if the FHSU Administration will protect them. This is just my opinion on the FHSU Administration. I don’t have insider information

Ed Hammond has to be in his 80’s but he was the last great President FHSU had. Really put Hays and FHSU on the map and made FHSU an attractive option for high school students outside of Western Kansas..
