I was going to rewatch all three parts of FLCL in sub for the sake of my video but there still don't exist good subs for Pro and Alt's JP versions. I did rewatch FLCLassic in sub, though.

no great loss, I suppose, all of FLCL got excellent dubs.

The sequels are even more worthy of, and ripe for, analysis, than FLCLassic, in my opinion. FLCLassic has been analyzed to death, but all the sequels seem to have, mostly, is a bunch of raving fanboys whining about how they're not like the original.

Virtually none of the characters in FLCLassic, however, have any real arcs, which makes sense thematically seeing as it's a character study of a stubborn little kid who thinks everyone is stupid and everything is boring

something I noticed in rewatching FLCLassic and Pro is, in Alt, there's some character development for Haruka after the events of Pro-- she becomes far less self centered and slightly more pronounced in her maturity. It's a rather subtle arc, but,

Returning to FLCLassic, I'm actually rather struck by how much of NOTHING that Naota really does in comparison to Hidomi and Kana. Almost every important action he takes to drive the plot is an action that he's forced to take by someone else. But, y'know,

Anyway, I will be spending my morning finishing my FLCLassic and Pro rewatch and then I will add words to my script, watch Mob Psycho episode 1 (because), review Alternative, hopefully finish writing my script... and hopefully don't jinx this.

so, the funny thing about FLCL's sequels

A more literal reading of FLCLassic (as opposed to "it's about growing up and puberty and whatever" or "you're not supposed to understand it, it just looks cool") is kind of required to fully "get" Alt/Pro, in a THEMATIC sense.

I'm actually not a hundred percent sure how to work FLCLassic into this so I'll need to give it a rewatch, for starters.
