#FOOTBALLERS
did you ever see that thread - i think it was on x: the everything app, years ago - where someone claimed that men could sustain a conversation consisting entirely of mid-90s footballers and the first reply was “karel poborsky” and the rest of the thread was just proving them right?

It's weird, but I have heard of actual footballers picking it up because Ronaldo's in there.

Plenty of professional footballers play outside of the EFL. A vast majority, in fact.

Carlton AFL club has banned players from brushing their own teeth after two of its stars were admitted to hospital. Lachie Cowan and Will Hayward recently ended up in hospital and earned nominations for The Frownlow Medal after an incident with a toothbrush. The Frownlow Medal is awarded to the player whose off-field demeanour epitomises the values of the modern-day footballer and draws attention to the status of footballers as role models to young Australians.

Why do footballers have no taste?

Last job interview I had was a long time ago. I was asked, “Do you think footballers are paid too much?”
They weren’t interested in my actual answer, but whether I could cope with a completely unexpected question, and answer in coherent sentences with a reasoned response.

He is. I know it's early but it's bloody obvious. He's got half a billion quids worth of footballers to organise and this is what he's offering. He's deluded. This isn't the Saudi league - you have to defend properly before you start and he can't do it.

The CDs are trash, mind. Hopeless.

Women’s professional players are still earning low wages, working on insecure contracts & experiencing rising psychological stress.

That is according to the findings of a new global survey of more than 800 footballers by #Fifpro.

Almost half of female footballers are considering leaving the sport because of financial concerns or psychological stress, a #FIFPRO survey of about 800 players says. Only 76% of players are always paid on time. 57% have struggled with their mental health.

This piece bothers me

www.thetimes.com/life-style/c...

It’s Polly Vernon writing about when she worked in a bar in London

It includes this: ‘Politicians drank there — I once made Tony Benn a G&T — as did EastEnders stars and footballers’

I can’t imagine Benn in such a bar & he didn’t drink booze

Not many premier league quality footballers out there for Newcastle tonight. Goodness me

Lol ah sorry. Absolutely not judging you. I mean the film en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rep... which has some fun musical moments.

It's really fun and endearing, buy looking back It's also about a bunch of scab footballers (who are also sympathetic)

i think he's the master of thing that footballers do when they are jogging but going slower than walking pace.

Totally agree that distorted spending can produce an elite dominating side, however, this is more theory than practice, given that Spurs just avoided relegation and are worth the same as PSG.

Leave the footballers and managers alone, take the auditors to task.

"And then we put little footballers on each disc, you see? Players then flick the discs."
"Hmm, but how will the little footballers stay on the discs?"
"We'll glue them on."
"Oh, I can't see any footballer agreeing to that."
"No, sir, they'll be made of plastic."
"Ah, yes, that would solve it."

Most footballers can satisfy the principal demands of their position i.e. (as appropriate) defend, tackle, get up and down, pass, shoot (Well, OK, I know).
Most wingers can barely feed their striker but still hold down a job, which I find a mystery. (And I loved Aaron, btw)
