Parliamentary PR is fine. If you're having difficulties forming a democratic government under it, you were probably going to have similar problems sooner or later under FPTP.

Except that's also mistaken, Mamdani would've won in FPTP.

PR forces cooperation…FPTP is adversarial.

One of many reasons why FPTP is bad and PR is better.

Fundamental flaw with 2-party, FPTP system, corrupted by Big Money, right?

Time to ditch FPTP #canada

The Winchester lobby really messed up getting 2 late 19th century winchesters on an FPTP ballot #UniteTheWinchesters

This could be us, Canada, but you need to ditch FPTP and break conservative rule

bsky.app/profile/sund... does the Labour Party understand how positioning works?

Do they understand what their role is supposed to be in a FPTP system?

Let's fuckin do this.

End the EC! End FPTP! Instate Ranked choice voting and 1:1 Popular Vote!
WAIT HOLY SHIT WE CAN KILL THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

PA: 19
Wi: 10
AZ: 11
MI: 15

That’s 55 electoral votes. 48 needed to ratify the NPVIC!

Hopefully retain FPTP.

Specifically, if dems don’t spend the next two years strengthening democracy (campaign finance reform, eliminate FPTP/Elec Col, regain election accountability), this will be nothing but a fun blip in the radar.
So anyway how bad do we think dems will fumble this?

Oh, that will be very sad if she loses with RCV a race that she would have won with FPTP, but that's the whole point of RCV.
November 4, 2026 at 4:11 PM
tweets about ending electoral college make me laugh in FPTP

*insert vent here about how awful FPTP is and that it's ridiculous we still use it here...*

Why shd it be concerning to urban voters? Because the majority report will systematically (esp YYC and esp esp Lethbridge) create large hybrid rural/urban (rurban) ridings large enough to swamp the urban vote in a FPTP system.
Time to get active & give $$ to those who will challenge this report.

Zohran actually benefited the least from any transfers until we got to Lander's reallocation!

Regardless, this is an easy FPTP and Condorcet victory for Zohran

PR doesn’t create fragmentation so much as make it legible. FPTP can temporarily hide the same divisions behind an artificial majority, which is hardly the same as solving them.
October 31, 2026 at 11:16 PM
Yeah, I lived there for a few years. Apart from the FPTP, it’s pretty much like ours.
November 2, 2026 at 10:42 PM
That's not how FPTP works. Next UK government will be Labour led.

MA QUESTION 3

The Top-Two primary is hell, the only thing worse than FPTP. Vote splits control everything. You can wind up with two Republicans in the general just because the primary had 5 Ds and 3 Rs. Instead of voting your conscience in the primary, you have to vote strategically to avoid this.

If I were the EU I would ask for reform of our terrible FPTP voting system and the democratisation of our upper chamber of parliament.

FPTP και διάφοροι εκλογικοί νόμοι κάνουν δύσκολο αυτό, δυστυχώς.
November 2, 2026 at 6:24 PM
People seem to have forgotten – perhaps due to the illusion of FPTP – that these places have never lost their significant right-wing bases, including some very white rural areas
November 4, 2026 at 10:54 AM
Yes under FPTP, running as an independent only helps Republicans. This could cost 2 Senate seats this election. This will be an expensive lesson for some people.
