Yes, the Federal Tort Claims Act exists and is at least A possible option for recovering some money from the option, but FTCA claims are significantly more limited than a 1983 lawsuit, is more my point.
This is overly fatalistic and likely to scare people who don’t need any more reason to be scared.
There are avenues like the FTCA and lots of good lawyers across the country are working hard to make sure they don’t “get away with it entirely”
