It’s real! It’s really in the paper this weekend! And it’s particularly exciting because it’s a particularly good FTWeekend other than the joker on page 3 of Life & Arts: www.ft.com/content/9e6b...

I’ve written the Lunch with the FT in tomorrow’s FTWeekend. I can’t believe I just typed that:
David Olusoga: ‘My loyalty is to history’
The historian on reimagining the Black British experience, being shot at from both sides in the culture wars and how to ‘de-weaponise the past’

Thrilled that Suzi Feay’s review of My Hummingbird Father made it into the @ftweekend print newspaper today! In their best books of the week roundup of best debuts. It’s so strange to see it in the Financial Times!

Important but alarming column from Camilla in tomorrow’s FTWeekend:
London bus crashes are the result of an unsafe model
Individual tragedies indicate a systemic problem that Whitehall needs to look at fast

Bus to the FTWeekend Festival: on the one hand, much faster than the Tube. On the other, involves going through a part of the city I strongly associate with my late teens, an experience I find bizarrely stressful given I enjoyed my late teens at the time.

After America – prepare for the new world disorder. My latest in @FT @ftweekend (£/$ I'm afraid)
www.ft.com/content/e450...
Brace for disorder as the great power shifts begin
With three or even four significant wars raging, who can doubt the dangers of this period?

Where is Europe in this Year 4 of a new historical era? Will liberal or anti-liberal Europe prevail? What will become of the Zeitenwende? We have until 2029 to shape the answers. My weekend essay for the @FT
@ftweekend (£, I'm afraid)
The fight for Europe’s future
Timothy Garton Ash on the shocks that fuelled a populist challenge — and how the liberal centre could yet hold

Superb piece in the FTWeekend by Ella Risbridger. In facing the challenges of declining literacy we must emphasise the joy of reading, and ‘fight for libraries everywhere you go’!

It's IMO the same underlying principle why it's right that I show up and meet subscribers at the FTWeekend Festival, it's Actually Good To Show Your People Some Love. (Also FT subscribers are just really interesting in the main.)

I've written about spoiler warnings and the origin of the 'if it was a good story, you can't spoil it anyway' myth in this weekend's FTWeekend.
This article contains (arguments about) spoilers
[FREE TO READ] Is it ever acceptable to give away the crucial twists in a must-see show?
