I’m intrigued by Arijit Biswas’s proposed model of the FVIII B domain as a flexible glycosylated coating on FVIII. Think cotton candy, not a hard shell. His data suggests the unstructured nature of the B domain could function as a soft barrier, fine tuning hemostasis.

The neonatal FcRn receptor, which persists in adult life, can be exploited both ways. In a Br J Haematology paper, its inhibition is exploited as a treatment of #ITP. In congenital #hemophilia, it is used to enhance the half-life of FVIII and FIX. tinyurl.com/c46hm9nv

Our paper on inhibitor trends is now published in the journal Haemophilia. The number of inhibitors in previously untreated patients has markedly reduced, but it is possible that this is due to delayed exposure to FVIII. tinyurl.com/2mr3t5e3

Excited to share our new paper in Blood Advances! We show that antiplatelet drugs impair platelet gene therapy in hemophilia A, but platelet-derived FVIII still outperforms plasma FVIII under inhibition. Great work by Hongyin Yu and our VBRI team.

Yes, exactly. They check a lot of the boxes you need to make large, secreted proteins (like FVIII); they scale well in suspension, they're relatively efficient at spitting out proteins and they have the machinery to attach important sugar modifications to the protein.
