So, AWS went down and so did most of the internet. And everyone just moved on.
This is part of why we are where we are. Everything we see and hear is owned by maybe five people, and it doesn’t feel like that’s raising enough eyebrows.

It doesn't seem to be common knowledge that bsky runs their PDS vertically scaled on bare-metal servers with 300K+ accounts per server, so I wrote it up

Apologies for the unexpected downtime, OVH informed us of a maintenance window which we had prepared for by adding an additional machine for failover.
Unfortunately it looks like the volumes took longer than expected to migrate.

i think the clear answer is that he shot a man from a helicopter departing from Reno, with its destination in California, and both the state of Nevada and the federal government declined jurisdiction, leaving the murder's venue to be handled by the situs-uncertain failover.
OK, after looking at a map, I realize this could be even more complicated. He could not have been standing in California and hit someone in the confines of the city of Reno, but he might have been in an unincorporated area outside Reno.
