Marine Protected Areas are a tricky balancing act. Last chance for marine habitats versus last straw for fishing industry.
The science is absolutely clear. Remove human activity, especially bottom trawling and they will restore.

Clarity saught regarding a pledge in the #ProgrammeforGovernment to ‘expand Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)’.

Publication of the MPA Bill has not specifically been mentioned, though critical to ensuring MPA development happens strategically.

Without consultation, 🇮🇪 missed an opportunity to involve local communities in the new Seas Off Wexford Special Protection Area (SPA).
