BBC reporting that one of the 5 men arrested near RAF Fairford called 999 himself an hour before the farmer did.
What did he say? “I’ve come to an airbase with 4 criminals by mistake”?

My working theory, based upon the empty barrels in the back of the vans, is that they had come to the countryside to steal diesel from rural stockpiles and then sell for profit in the south east.
The proximity to RAF Fairford was probably just bad luck for them.
