i think i went in with too high of expectations. its got definite style but the drama of the plot is just a bit underwhelming, retreading itself often. really gotta appreciate them going for as many fakeout deaths as they do though, i think every character gets one

DoD made some interesting attempts (American Nazis, KKK, Greek artifact, Longinus fakeout) but ultimately it crashed on the same shore as Abrams' Star Wars garbage: caring more about the aesthetics than the meaning

Like you set up a character who has a crush on another character spend multiple episodes building that up just for it to be a fakeout feels pretty strange to me.

Man, I HATE IT when authors do the whole "two people who are more or less perfect for each other finally get together after a few books oops it's time to kill one of them off" thing. Like, I understand all the reasons why they do, but it hurts every time.

The first appearance of the MZ universe is actually in the Ultimate Universe, in an arc by Mark Millar and Greg Land called Crossover. It's a good fakeout--you think it's leading to a MU proper crossover, but no--it's zombies lying to Reed to trick him into getting them off the dead planet.
