A black-and-white photograph of a life-sized model of a gray whale suspended from the ceiling inside a museum. The whale’s detailed texture, barnacle-like markings, and eye are clearly visible, illuminated by overhead lights. Below, a tiled floor and a sign reading “Discovery Store” mark the museum entrance. The shot, taken on Ilford HP5+ film with a Pentax LX and 35mm f/2.8 lens, shows fine grain and strong tonal contrast, emphasizing the whale’s form and scale within the indoor setting.

Black-and-white close-up of a corroded bolt and bracket embedded in a degraded metal hinge. The textures dominate the frame: the cracked and splintered surface, rough rusted metal, and smooth new-looking bolt contrast sharply. Shot with a Pentax LX and SMC Pentax-M 35mm f/2.8 on Ilford Delta 100, developed in XTOL 1:1, the image emphasizes fine detail, tonal gradation, and the tactile qualities of decay versus repair.
