Another big shift in autosomal DNA testing. FamilyTreeDNA is moving to targeted sequencing, meaning more coverage and higher resolution where it matters for genealogy. We’re watching genetic genealogy grow up in real time. I’m especially watching how this impacts distant match discovery. #genealogy

Another great DNA cousin match solved feeling! I did genealogy sleuthing & digging to solve a FamilyTreeDNA cousin match to my amazing 95 yr old grandma via her match with no tree. It might've been my 1st official DNA cousin match solve for her on FamilyTreeDNA. 3-day 4am DNA goals!

Othram now controlling forensic genealogical searches in FamilyTreeDNA "consented" database. But FamilyTreeDNA is opt-OUT for forensics, so not positively consented. Also IIRC FTDNA switched huge number of old accounts into this mode, so again consent is far from clear

Yay! Just short of 2 months from sending them off, I have my Y-DNA results from FamilyTreeDNA. Haven't checked them yet.
(My mtDNA results, mostly uninformative, were back after 3ish weeks)
