Recently, FamilySearch digitized and uploaded tons of microfilmed records, including many from 18th-century Massachsuetts. They're using some sort of AI to transcribe/summarize the handwritten documents.
I've noticed that the AI strips out references to race and enslavement in 18thc documents.

if this is FamilySearch . org then that's owned by the LDS Church (Mormon) who has a terrible history of racism and then trying to sanitize their own past - I'd not be surprised if this were an entirely intentional instruction given to the AI

Ahora ya estás en FamilySearch y puedes empezar a hacer tu propio árbol ahí. ¡Pero cuidado! El árbol que vayas creando en FamilySearch es PÚBLICO (al menos para las personas fallecidas).

Friends from the XBird will know I visit my local FamilySearch Affiliate Library about once/week & I'm happy to do lookups for others.
Tomorrow might be a good day if any genies need a restricted record copy. Feel free to spread the word.

ah just looked it up, the mormon church owns familysearch, ancestry is privately owned (but they share databases so it ends in the same result)

FamilySearch is owned and controlled by the Mormon Church.
It’s CEO is Steve Rockwood.
Erasure and distortion of history in archives is a serious matter that merits follow up.
