This isn’t necessarily accurate of all fanime, but the throughline is in any case that fanime is a form of democratized amateur animation combining anime aesthetics with “Internet Ugly”. The style is most associated with the Western anime fandom of the mid-2000s through mid-2010s, where it was often difficult to distinguish sincere fanime shows from parodies of the genre. ### **Who is Kisaka Toriama?** **Kisaka Toriama** (AKA mojocrystaltokyo) is a fanimetor and graduated Vtuber notable for creating what is believed to be the first fanime ever as a child, _Tokyo Crystal Mew_ , which we have already seen. She also created _Magikí Akarí_ , _Crystal Hearts: The Movie_ , and _Satan’s B###h_ , all of which we have also seen previously. In other words, this watch party is basically just the remaining few works of her filmography that we haven’t already seen, shown in roughly chronological order. These works include: ### _**Aliens**_ _**Aliens**_ is a 2007 sci-fi comedy fanime that Kisaka Toriama revived in 2015, i.e. a very early entry into her filmography that she made as a little girl. We will of course be watching both the 2007 and 2015 versions. Plot description from Fanime Realm: > After spilling red bull on the “Do not pour red bull on” button, Gizzy, Klahn, Fork, and their pet Glush had crash landed on earth. Hijinks ensue. ### _**Unstrung Love**_ _**Unstrung Love**_ is a 2014~2016 slice-of-life comedy-drama fanime based on a comic that Kisaka Toriama drew. Plot description from Fanime Realm: > Mana, a 17 year old high school junior, is your average girl with your average likes and dislikes. She has friends around her but doesn’t have all that great luck with love. One day, she bumps into a mysterious introverted girl, Avery, who so happens to draw in her notebook. ### _**6 Storms**_ _**6 Storms**_ is a 2016 fantasy adventure fanime that only ever released an animatic of its pilot before it was canceled due to Kisaka Toriama being too busy with adult responsibilities to make it. Plot description: > A small group of anthropomorphic animal friends are told by the king of their land that his daughter, i.e. their good friend the princess, has been kidnapped. It is now up to this group of friends to save the princess with magic and assorted weapons! ### **Shorts** **“Shortgaze and Lanaca’s Arrival”** and **“Toya and the Café”** are two _Tokyo Crystal Mew_ shorts that I missed when I showed that series. **“Grade School Stories”** is Toriama’s fan animation for Mari/kawaiiouija’s _Tokyo Magic Star_ , which we also saw previously. All of these shorts released in 2014. These shorts will mark the end of the first half of this watch party. ### _**Ven Galaxis**_ _**Ven Galaxis**_ is a 2015~2018 slice-of-life comedy fanime notable for having an actually complete first season (and incomplete second season). As such, it’s by far the longest fanime I’ll be showing tonight, taking up the entire second half of the watch party. Plot description from Fanime Realm: > A slice of life comedy series between two friends, Shayla and Marc, who live next to each other! Join in on their crazy, funny daily life. # **Content warnings and accessibility** **Audio description:** Not available **Sign language:** Not available **Captions:** Not available **Language of audio:** English **Content warnings:** Not available; presumably very tame based on plot descriptions and previous experience with this fanimetor. Still, if you’re sensitive to strobing lights or loud/grating noises, you may want to sit this one out. * * * _♫ Uniting nations at the speeeed of liiiiight ♫_ _[epic sax solo]_ _♫ Station of the '20s — TV☆3SIS! ♫_ * * * You should watch SPARKLE ON RAVEN: The Life of DrillGirl; it is a very good show. _{Cēterum|Furthermore} {cēnseō|I think} {iūs auctōris|copyright} {esse dēlendum|must be destroyed}._
