Starting July 1, 2026, the organization previously known as Muskusrattenbeheer Rivierenland will operate under the new name Faunabeheer Water. This change reflects a broader approach to managing animal species that impact water safety. While the organization originally focused specifically on controlling muskrats and coypus, its responsibilities have grown. They now monitor various animals, such as beavers, which can affect the stability of dikes and banks through their burrowing activities. By shifting their focus, the team aims to ensure safe water management while promoting sustainable coexistence with nature in the regions covered by the four collaborating water boards. The organization relies on extensive field knowledge and close cooperation with municipalities and nature groups to identify risks early. By working together, they prevent potential damage to infrastructure before it becomes a major problem. Faunabeheer Water continues to innovate by adopting new methods and sharing expertise with other regional partners. This evolution ensures that the group remains effective in protecting the water network against changing environmental conditions. Their primary goal remains clear: maintaining strong, safe dikes and healthy water areas for everyone through expert monitoring and active collaboration across the diverse landscapes they manage.

Vanaf 1 juli 2026 gaat de organisatie voor muskusrattenbeheer verder onder de naam Faunabeheer Water. Deze verandering komt door een bredere taakverdeling. De organisatie houdt zich namelijk niet meer alleen bezig met muskusratten en beverratten, maar richt zich nu ook op andere dieren die de dijken en waterkeringen kunnen beschadigen. Denk hierbij aan de beschermde bever. Vier verschillende waterschappen werken in deze organisatie nauw samen om schade te voorkomen. Door hun uitgebreide kennis van het veld en de inzet van vernieuwende methoden, werken zij aan veilige dijken en een gezonde natuur in en rond het water.
