I am 95% sure that JRM got picked for the interview because Carlson thought he'd get a favourable hearing from him. If there was a TV show where Tucker Carlson goes to meet all the people he thinks will agree with him, and then they just go "What? No. Not at all. WHAT?", I'd actually watch TV.

In Scotland, James VI writes to Walsingham in relatively cordial tones, saying that a prisoner has been released at his request. He hopes that Walsingham will give a favourable report of their talks to Elizabeth (doubt it), and that no 'crafty and unquiet spiritis' will drive a wedge between them.

It's always present everywhere, which is why I don't like it when people talk about it as a virus or an infection. The question is always: are conditions for the open expression of antisemitism favourable or not?

Nolo has now successfully completed an eyewall replacement cycle that has temporarily dropped the intensity below major hurricane status. Environment remains favourable for at least another 24-36 hours, so she should reach another peak. In fact Nolo is likely alr back to major.

Cheers.

I’ll be down at Spurn. Haven’t been since before Covid. Used to go regularly but lockdown seemed to change habits.

No idea if that’s a favourable direction down there or not🤷‍♀️

James Grant has reviewed A Fabulous Debt in the WSJ! Unsurprised that he is sceptical of my generally favourable view of public debt (and don’t really agree I’m misinterpreting Hamilton’s “public credit immortal” line) but he’s a legend so I’m chuffed anyway. www.wsj.com/arts-culture...
