#Federmesser

Hello new followers, thank you! - I am a 77-year-old Danish archaeologist specializing in the Paleolithic - especially the Late Paleolithic - who has led investigations of settlements from the Hamburgian, Federmesser, and Bromme cultures. But I am also very interested in Neanderthals ...

How far did chocolate flint and ochre travel in the Late Palaeolithic? A study by K. Kerneder-Gubała et al. links artefacts from Całowanie and Rydno to the Orońsko shaft mine, tracing raw material flows among Federmesser and Tanged Point groups. #Archaeology #Palaeolithic

We can now establish that practically all the cultures associated with the Weichselian Ice Age, which are known from other parts of the North European lowlands, are also represented in Denmark: the Hamburgian Culture, the Federmesser Culture, the Ahrensburgian Culture and the Bromme Culture ...
The earliest settlement of Denmark
The last twenty years have seen major growth in research into the Late Palaeolithic in Denmark, which may well be the most significant area of growth in the archaeology of this country.

These first terrace landscape contexts are favoured by Magdalenian, Federmesser, Long Blade & Mesolithic groups.

The Lommel–Molse Nete is one of the most extensive and best-preserved Federmesser sites in north-western Europe. This unique Late Glacial site offers exceptional opportunities to explore how hunter-gatherer groups at the end of the Ice Age organised their lives and adapted to changing environments.
