Kan du hålla en hemlighet? 21.30, BBC OneEn superrolig ny sitcom producerad och skriven av Simon Mayhew Archer (producent av This Country och Such Brave Girls) och regisserad av Simon Hynde (Ghosts, Motherland). Nyligen änka Debbie Fendon (Dawn French, i storform) måste erkänna en hemlighet för sin vuxna son Harry (Craig Roberts). Det visar sig att hennes excentriska pappa William (Mark Heap) faktiskt inte är död.

...drivers expect they should be able to treat each roundabout the same, they seem angered when they have to pay attention. Perne Road/Fendon Road/Mowbray Road has three different roundabout styles in succession...

Fendon/Elizabeth Way? It needed wider routes into the roundabout for cycling, and because it hasn't got them I don't think it's good enough to encourage more to ride. The rest of the road though, whether Elizabeth Way or Fendon Road, is a bigger problem...

Our efforts to connect Cambridgeshire County Council with Dutch consultancy Royal Haskoning paid dividends for people walking and cycling in south Cambridge. The Dutch-style roundabout at Fendon Road was a UK first, with a protected ring for cyclists and zebra crossings on each arm for pedestrians.

Right but the current fendon road design has two people approaching the intersection point with the bike or car they need to be looking for virtually behind them, then swerving and crossing at right angles. It's the worst of both worlds. And you see the results of this every time you use it

Fendon road roundabout is the one shown in the picture, radegund road roundabout is about a mile to the north of it. Neither are close to Elizabeth way. Both are awful for cyclists now

I'm talking more about the fendon road roundabout, which is utterly terrifying for inexperienced cyclists. I haven't actually tried the north Cambridge junctions

@megmac there’s a junction I used to have to cross a lot, both as a cyclist and a driver, which added a bike lane and actually made it more stressful and possibly more dangerous for everyone. I don’t think anyone knows who has right of way, and as a […]

Being accurate (or pedantic) it's the *fourth* DSR in the UK:
⭕ Fendon Rd Cambridge
⭕ West Bar #Sheffield
⭕ Westgate #Chichester
⭕ Boundary Way #HemelHempstead
My @transport-initiatives.com colleague @steveessex.bsky.social has been involved with *all* of them to some extent (lots on Fendon Rd)

Yes, we know! @transport-initiatives.com has given some *informal* advice to Herts on this #DutchStyleRoundabout. It's the 4th in the UK (after Fendon Rd #Cambridge, West Bar #Sheffield & Westgate #Chichester - which we've all been involved with to some extent).

Official US Trailer for 'Can You Keep A Secret?' UK Dark Comedy Series
"Don't be silly. We're just a bit complicated – like the Beckhams." Paramount+ has revealed an official US trailer for a British dark comedy series called Can You Keep A Secret?, which originally debuted on BBC streaming earlier this month. It's coming to the US on Paramount+ to watch starting in February. A retired couple, named Debbie & William Fendon, living in the West Country of England are presented with a unique criminal opportunity to claim life insurance when William is mistakenly declared to have died. Their son Harry is caught up in the drama, trying to hide the secret from his wife Neha, who is a local police officer. The story revolves around the Fendons' attempts to figure out and stop whoever is blackmailing them for the money whilst hiding William, who has Parkinson’s Disease, from the public. Loosely based on the real-life John Darwin disappearance case from 2007. Can You Keep A Secret? is a UK sitcom featuring Dawn French, Mark Heap, Craig Roberts, and Mandip Gill. Early reviews say this series has "charm, wit and warmth enough to work as soothing balm rather than riotously fun fare." Seems kooky enough - have a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Paramount+'s series Can You Keep a Secret?, from YouTube: Domineering granny Debbie Fendon, a woman who […]

The Hovening context is two very large roads meeting at a signalised crossroads within which cycling was removed to improve motor traffic capacity. Fendon Road is one traffic lane in/ out so of course utterly different contexts and design motivations.

You'll have to explain how you would have designed the Fendon Road junction because the design means people walking and wheeling cross at 90° and with the overall geometry, this means that people have a much better view of each other. Compare with cycling *on* a roundabout where you'd be looking

It's a good design let down by the speed at which the network is being redesigned around it, however, investing in junctions is a good idea.

This one closely matches the Dutch approach which can be used with care.

The most annoying about that article for me is that they referenced the one in Fenton Rd Cambridge.

It’s Fendon.
