Texas-based Progressive Metalcore band Fervence have released a new video for "Oculum." The track appears on their new full-length album, Constructs, out now on Metal Blade Records. Founding guitarist Trent Odneal comments: This song draws a lot of inspiration from the grittiness in Deftones' self-titled album. I really tried to make it feel dark, abrasive, human if you will, while maintaining a cinematic undertone, without overdoing it.

I really tried to make it feel dark, abrasive, human if you will, while maintaining a cinematic undertone, without overdoing it.” Inspired by bands like Deftones, Architects, and Silent Planet, the FERVENCE sound is an ethereal blend of harsh and lush, navigating between moments of sheer aggression and poignant vulnerability. Formed in 2019 in Reno, Nevada as Odneal’s solo project, FERVENCE released its debut full-length, Ghost, in 2020. The recording was called an “emotionally laden and hard-hitting record that contemplates what it is to be human.” https://fervence.net https://www.instagram.com/fervenceband https://www.facebook.com/fervenceband https://x.com/fervenceband LYRICS: An Embodiment of crisis I await a longing of life Push back against the violence, wading, all these bodies of light Breach finality, lead back to the spaces far from me Caught within the shadow Lost without a sense that I'm awake I can't relate to what I'm living A spectator to the prices I fueling I, delusions of a sustenance, a salient, tension, waning I Breach finality, lead back to the spaces far from me Separate me From time and space erase me Reach back to the foreign places Revocation Body's wasting Shores are waiting Caught within the shadow Lost without a sense that I'm awake I can't relate to what I'm living Bound again Found without an essence made of me And in the blackened air I'm breathing Mother, mother tell me how am I supposed to breathe like I'm alive Cause I laid down perceptions far from me
