We have a water issue in Waterloo Region & they've been taking more from Wilmot Township.
Do you really want an industrial mega-site built on farmland when just 1 L of spilled chemical can contaminate 1,000,000 L of water?

How do you feel about not having any input on an industrial mega-site being built in Wilmot on prime farmland?

How much will it cost us for Vision 1 Million?
Costs not in this @WR_Record article: water issues for private wells in Wilmot Township and the loss of prime farmland for an industrial mega-site.

In the Record's If I were mayor, Janet Redman of Independent Living Waterloo Region shared her thoughts on preserving our farmland.

That's exactly what we would do too.

There is still time for you to speak up about the Wilmot Official Plan. Read the draft and make sure that it reflects the community you want to live, work and play in.

Not sure how to provide feedback? Reach out and we can help: wilmotcan@gmail.com

We need prime farmland to grow our food. We don't need pavement that will block incoming water for our groundwater.

The OP vision states: This growth will be carefully balanced w/ strong protections for farmland, water, & the natural environment, preserving what matters most for current & future generations.

This Council could start by stating that Wilmot is an unwilling host.

Did you read the draft Official Plan for Wilmot Township?

It's especially important this year because elections are coming up. It's important for our community to vote for a council that will protect what's in the Official Plan.

Did you know: One of the principles of the Wilmot Official Plan draft is to promote the design of resilient and sustainable communities that respond to climate change and promote compact urban form to protect farmland.

Province keeps "helping" municipalities bring industry in & it fails. You know what was making money in Wilmot Township? 770 acres of prime farmland that they're helping buy for an unknown buyer that's nowhere to be found.

"...critics point out that the region still has no confirmed end-user for the site. They suggest it could become another “Pickering Airport” — a massive tract of expropriated land that has sat empty for decades.

1st Region of Waterloo came for our farmland. Now our water.

Read Josh Piercey's article, then call & email your @WilmotTownship councillor & ask them to make a motion that Wilmot is an unwilling host.

DYK that it takes 100s of years to create 1" of topsoil?
