Having my college and my main professional society have the same acronym leads to really confusing subject lines and requires very careful filenaming strategies. Just got an invitation about an LSA teaching panel and it's like, "I mean, this could be from either place." (College, today.)

I sound like a broken record when advising researchers about filenaming, my favourite line is "It's a filename, not a password" when discouraging special characters.

I actually do use yyyy-mm-dd in my filenaming because it makes things SO easy to organize. I'll never go back.

Read this on patch day but only have time now to properly post about it. This will be a big hit to automatic and manual model filenaming for community tools such as wow.export as many names are based on interface icons. That said, it will take care of a bunch of leaks too, so they're not wrong here.

All good on the filenaming, it helps save me a bit of work in organizing the files but its totally not vital for accepting submissions.

i just "sort by date created" in my art folder to do this, i think actually things would be harder to find out of the blue if i used this filenaming system cause im much more likely to remember "picture i drew where clair is crying?? uhhh claircry.png???" than remember that i drew that in oct 2023

Like, I downloaded a software the other month that somehow was scanning episodes of a television show I had ripped on a blu-ray and auto-naming the files to the correct filenaming convention for my NAS, and then when I looked up how it did that, it was using some AI software. Okay, that's neat.
