Lynch has been The One for my whole filmgoing life. I can’t think of anything to say

I hope this movie plays forever. It makes it safe to unabashedly love what you love.

And as a filmgoing experience, Rocky Horror reminds us that there is no right way to watch a movie. We experience our world with and through our whole bodies. Filmgoing can also be absolute pleasure!

Watching Supergirl which I don’t think got a fair shake from filmgoing audiences.

we watched SHIN GODZILLA in an enormous theater that was entirely empty except for a man who brought a box of cereal and also a bow and spoonl for his cereal and also milk for his cereal

10/10 filmgoing experience

Look it’s a movie about the power of filmgoing *and* film history. It’s fantastic.

It's finally time! I haven't been this excited for a filmgoing experience in a long time. About to see Suspiria (1977) with a live score by Claudio Simonetti's Goblin! #horrorsky #Spooktober

Been sitting with this impending news for a few days. A sad day for the DC filmgoing community. E Street Cinema is closing March 6.

I helped run E Street from 2008-2015. We pioneered service-first filmgoing and made the space an institution for district cinephiles. In many ways, I grew up there.
E Street Cinema, independent movie theater in downtown D.C., to close
Landmark’s E Street Cinema, a hub for indie, foreign and niche films, cited business struggles since the pandemic.

dunno about "worst" but the most miserable filmgoing experience was seeing Attack of the Clones opening night and hating it in a room full of fans screaming in appreciation

If this goes thru it will accelerate Hollywood’s precipitous decline. Thousands laid off. Creatives w/fewer studios willing to bid on projects. Fewer choices of what to watch for consumers. Possibly a death blow for theatrical filmgoing. Just terrible news all around

Movies made solely as bribes to gain access to the President lack a certain . . . filmgoing audience appeal.

Kind of unbelievable that I’ve been able to spend the last few days in deep conversation with a global group of historians and other scholars about cinemas and filmgoing. I am having the time of my life!

We’re not just losing great critics and great writers - we’re all of us losing the full lived experience of filmgoing. Its context. Its value. Its meaning.

Tech companies and their titans of industry want us to believe that spectatorship is a zero-sum game, but the history of filmgoing and home media remind us that it’s simply not true.
I love that Sinners, now on HBO Max, is still running at my local theater.

Enlightened filmgoing is not only accepting effects that don’t meet your personal definition of verisimilitude, but embracing their magic because someone made and shared them with us in the first place.

Did you know that Christmas Day is one of the biggest filmgoing days of the year?

If you’re headed to a matinee today, remember that theater operators are working extra hard to make the movies magical for you and yours. Be sure to thank them and to treat them and your fellow filmgoers kindly!
