Piggary and Penstocks 📷Leica M4 🎞️TriX 🔭35/2.5 Color Skopar - Adaptive Multi Use was always a thing in Batsto Village - More in ALT #believeinfilm #filmismorefun #WhartonSF #bogiron
A monochrome film photograph of the piggery, the original water tower, and the carriage house at Batsto Village in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I love the way this water tower building changes materials 2/3 of the way up when they added the extra height. The ironstone material used for the 1820s-era buildings must have run out by the 1850s, so red brick it was! Starting in the 1760s, and for about 90 years thereafter, Batsto was home to a sizable bog iron furnace starting in the 1760s. They made all sorts of home and industrial goods, even cannon and shot for the continental army during the American Revolution and War of 1812. Later, there was a glass works that made many of the streetlight globes for cities like Philadelphia and Camden. Crane Details - Trenton Marine Terminal 📷Leica M4 🎞️Gold200 🔭35/1.5 Nokton II - Two of 28 locomotive steam gantry cranes built in 1917 by the McMyler-Interstate Company of Cleveland, Ohio, for the Hog Island, Philadelphia, shipyard. #believeinfilm #filmismorefun #TrentonMakesTheWorldTakes
The Trenton Marine Terminal is a historic public port and waterfront park located along the Delaware River in Trenton, New Jersey. Built in 1931 to handle cargo shipments via the Delaware River. Features rare WWI-era 15-ton McMyler Interstate gantry cranes relocated from the Philadelphia Hog Island Shipyard. The two cranes now in Trenton were sold as government surplus in 1930 to the municipal government for $5,000, a fifth of the original cost, and were installed at the Trenton Marine Terminal in 1932. The cranes had a 15-ton capacity and are mounted on tracks that run 1,700 feet (520 m) along the Delaware River waterfront at Trenton's southern limits. They were overhauled in 1952 and stand about 40 feet (12 m) tall.

A color film photograph of outdoor art at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ. After serving as a grist mill for more than a century, the Dunham-Parry Mill was purchased by a group of local residents with a vision of creating an arts center. The Hunterdon Art Museum is housed in a stone mill that sits on the Raritan River’s south branch. The original mill built on this site in 1763 supposedly ground wheat for General George Washington’s revolutionary army during its encampment in Morristown. From 1810 to 1828, Ralph Hunt owned this mill and the Red Mill across the river. The Hunterdon Art Museum educates, challenges, and inspires community through the arts. Hunterdon Art Museum aspires to be an inclusive and essential community resource that fosters transformative experiences and enriches the lives of everyone through contemporary art exhibitions and programming. A color film photograph of the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ. Throughout its early years, the Art Center (as it was then known) strove to maintain the building’s architectural integrity while making it a suitable space for the enjoyment of the visual and performing arts. On March 5, 1953, almost immediately after taking possession of the building, the first stage of renovations began: chutes and machinery were cleared from the first and second floors, cement floors were laid on the first floor, and plans were made for more substantial repairs. A color film photograph of outdoor art at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ. In the twenty-first century, the Hunterdon Art Museum continues to produce programs of excellence, expand its educational mission, and bring nationally and locally significant artists to the attention of our visitors. The museum now offers hundreds of classes and workshops annually for children and adults and provides an artist-in-residence program to area schools. A tagline, “center for art, craft & design,” was developed to express the museum’s unique focus on those areas and their intersection.

Quite a nice little museum, it is also home of the Red Mill British Car Day event, organized by the Austin Healey Sports Touring Club. A color film photograph of the historic cast iron truss bridge in Clinton, NJ. This bridge is one of three bridges in Hunterdon County which follow the Lowthorp design and were built by Cowin, and they are the only three such bridges in the whole state which utilize cast iron for all compression members/chords on the bridge. These bridges are among a small and elite group of metal truss bridges in the nation, as cast and wrought iron bridges. As pre 1880 bridges, they also are among the oldest metal truss bridges in the country, which is unsurprising given the use of cast iron in the bridges. Cast iron was rapidly replaced by wrought iron for bridge construction after 1800. As extremely old bridges, using cast iron for major structural components, the three Lowthorp/Cowin bridges in New Jersey are among the most important group of historic bridges in the United States.
