I suspect the calculation for admins was, "If we oppose the DEI attack, they'll come for our grant funding." I suspect the calculation now is, "If we oppose the grant cuts too loudly, they'll come for student finaid."

Some higher ed organizations who are loudly circling the wagons against federal funding cuts were oddly silent or circumspect about the earlier attacks on CRT and DEI.

Nearly 80% of Black professionals come thru HBCUs. If new admin cuts funding to HBCUs it will be catastrophic for our community, long term. Pell grants, finAid, all things at risk that overwhelmingly impact our institutions.

People replied with: IT, bartender, learning & certification to run and program CNC machines, code or fix computers, plumber, electrician (or trades work in general).
The main issue with some of these is the cost of pursuing training (if finaid not an option if used it up for previous degrees).

Incoming rant: renewing my SNAP benefits in law school, I was told I didn’t look like I needed them. Told that lady run my app now bc I just spent my last $100 on a cheap suit to interview for required summer internships that either don’t pay or enough to only cover rent until my next finaid check.
It annoys me when people say “they’re on SNAP but their hair and nails are done and they’ve got tattoos”. It’s extremely normal to do your own hair and buy press on nails, and tattoos literally last forever. What do tattoos someone got 10 years ago have to do with them needing to eat now

I don’t know how going from 3 classes to 2 classes and a 501 project is half time but that’s why I owe almost a thousand dollars to finaid. They fucking knew my courseload when it was dispersed

very VERY pleased and happy to report that EVERYTHING is financially taken care of now and I can BREATHE. I can RELAX. and my finaid deposits mid-June so I won't have to worry about anything for next month. thank you so much to everyone that was able to help me ♥ you're my heroes ♥

The kids are pissed people are worried about the wrong things when they already had a dress code (business casual apparently) and not worrying about why they don’t have campus housing and being threatened with lost finaid if they are late!
