The story mentions it at the end, but FirstSolar recently opened up an enormous Billion dollar panel manufacturing plant in Iberia Parish. The panels get made here, but they cant install them here because of this nonsense.

I usually confuse CIGS with Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) - as that’s what FirstSolar uses - and that’s what I was thinking as I posted this. Midsummer uses them though - thin rooftop product.

Ja, und? Er zijn zoveel ontwerpen / afleidingen / secundaire technologieën ontwikkeld, die het vaak niet hebben gehaald omdat ze zijn ingehaald door de voortrazende "klassieke" Si-technologie. Thinfilm was ook DE grote belofte. Zijn bijna allemaal gefailleerd / onbetekenend (behalve FirstSolar)

Just a note for those of you/us with overlapping climate and investing interests. #FirstSolar, FSLR, has multiple buy recommendations, target price estimates from $230-274 and a strong balance sheet. Because of current uncertainty, it seems a tremendous buy opportunity at under 130.

The module manufacturers (i.e. FirstSolar), who are responsible for the import tariffs and I can't stand, don't like the new bill because it cuts the tax credit short - and thus the motivation (10% tax credit adder) to buy domestically manufactured stuff.

Having said that, I heard a talk by a FirstSolar guy from Chile once, that essentially said, that PV plants can now modulate in ms as well, so spinning gerneration is not strictly speaking needed any more.
