The conundrum of choosing buttons:

Do I go with the clever textured black discs?

Do I figure out a way to use the open circles taken from a broken bit of jewelry and suspend them from a loop of fabric?

We shall see, peeps. Still sewing slowly.

Progress... and the bats arrived. 🦇

French seams sewn for lower pieces of oversized top; had to laugh when I realized I cut one piece the wrong direction... A bit of black trim might be in order. Do I have any tiny cording? 🤔

Bats arrived; detailed; pattern possibly chosen.

It was a good morning in the Playroom.

And no, I'm not building a capsule. 🤣

Working my way up to change the serger thread ... again.🫣

Now you know why my playroom is always a mess. Paisley is in time out so the fog can clear. Hopefully tomorrow will see the finish.

I may be stuck with white or black for the top after destroying the Playroom in test mode. Cute Beetle image on a black Anytime would work...

Fingers crossed, I think this bell bottom idea is going to work. Drafted against a 2-piece pinned down the seams, I drafted against the front and back crotch seam. A tiny bit of pattern adjusting, I'll be ready to cut the paisley.

And yes, my legs really are that long... 🤣

Well before the crack of dawn began with two simple bands... both cut too short. 🫣

Creative fix w/denim in my head. 👍 🎉

Back band sewn in the wrong direction. 🤬 🫣

Perhaps adulting is in order - weeds, dirty windows. Playroom is looking better...progress.

The next creative hit the workspace this afternoon - Morrison is in the house. Thinking about using this Burda pattern sans shaping. (Made the skirt previously, great pattern.)

May see some changes in position - letters on one panel & Morrison on the other...

Progress in smaller steps today. 1st time attempting to thread the bead needle and hold tiny bits in place for the first stitch or two.

'The Judge' and I have reached a level of comfort; garment to machine done including buttonholes.

'Tiptoe' on; button-bead stacking next. 🤞

Well, 'Tiptoe Thru The Tulips' is now in 'resting ruffle' mode on the crash test dummy and ready for buttons, beads and tags. Not thrilled though ready to move on.

Perhaps jeans w/this B/W dot. Fun, right?! And the Catsama canteen purse...I need to finish her project.

Sad day in the Playroom as another pair of Kites hits the 'naughty corner' of unfinished projects. 4+" released in this pair, sewn two weeks past the last.

Frustration is high as I work through the latest medical diagnosis. CHF is winning... Back to stretch go I. 🫤

There is something satisfying about this somewhat complicated task of adding a fly front to a pull-up or side zip pants patterns.

Still working on dart placement to take in the upper slack though have confidence I will be there soon.

Progress. Front pockets in and looking good. Used remnants from a top I made in 2018. Sides fully flowered though not pressed. If more to be added, need to do so prior to sides sewn.

Fly expected to land tomorrow. Fitting afterwards. 🤞

Remind me, will ya? 😁

Wore 'John n Andy' to a doc appt after a stressful few calls from CHF Center. There are days when one needs to gird up to face bad news, this jacket my armor.

Wearing it changes my perspective. No one told me how fun sewing could be... perhaps I discovered that on my own.

Not quite at my happy place and fabric options limited.

What if I🤔...

Counting flowers on the .. er... leg.

Pattern adjusted, fussy cutting progress... Time to cut and patch fabric.

Next project is on the table...

Giving 'Kite' another run. This pair from a failed project - the Mizono dress. I'd chosen the wrong size and saw no way to recover.

So I'm choosing to grow flowers in the 'patch' if all goes as planned, a clear vision in mind.

So happy with the fly process used on this once elastic style. My only regret was reducing the pattern prior to trying it on, they're a bit tight.

With CHF, water bloat is an issue. Holiday treats too! May need to apply a creative fix... or a creative diet. 😂

Sometimes, one digs in the back of the closet and must decide - donate or refresh.

I chose a refresh on two older jackets - one purchased some 20 years back from a resale shop, the other a bit older RTW.

The refresh? New buttons and what a difference it makes.

Today's outfit - black stretch faux velvet on the bottom and my Merry Christmas top above, accented with an ancient red jacket.

Not convinced we are meant for each other though the check out line at TJs liked it. Contemplating a 2nd run w/changes. Super easy sew.

Took my holiday top for a brief outing yesterday and felt like it was missing a personal touch.

I solved it with a bit of selvedge edge, scrap from the binding and a lot of patience.

Tag complete, including the 'dangler. One of these days I'll torture you with selfies. 😁

Do you have a cherished 'made by me' outfit hanging in your closet?

This is mine.

I took it out for a spin to the infusion center today. I think it might be theirs too.

P.S. Definitely looks better with the hat.

Muffed the wrap up a bit on peplum-to-garment though not enough to care. Tried the 'Asian' method - works well had I cut a wider strip + ironed the fold.

Time to try on top, 'drop on' with no zip nor button slash at the neckline. Hope it fits over my Holiday poundage. 🫣🤣

Have to love a simple pattern that tells you to do 'French' seams. Easy and elevated for this 'wearable muslin'.

Note: No pattern matching attempted due to the limits of yardage.

Cue music: Torn between two lovers...

Patterns drafted and ready to cut; one fabric prepped, the other to be ironed. Both 'holiday' wear yet flexible in my eclectic style.

Had a clear vision for the deer piece until Comey came out to play with the red in a short version.

It's all about stripes and fireflies...

Funny how the garments I sew soften the blows as I race between docs towards the end of my body's life cycle. Like donning armor before more bad news.

Who would have thought fabric, thread and baubles would do such a kind thing...
