#FlashGun
Unexpected visit of my local Sparrowhawk. Amazed to get a picture as it was taken at an angle through a double glazed window using a short zoom lens and a flashgun. The flash has done an amazing job of lightening the front of the bird. Was the hawk bothered, not at all. 🪶 #birdingwales #ukbirding

I should point out that I wouldn't normally use flash for bird photography but the flashgun was new and I was playing about with it when the Sprawk suddenly appeared.

For me it wasn't a TV remote but an electronic flashgun. Tune the radio in and fire the flash using the red Test button, and the audio gets blasted with rapidly decelerating electronic pulses,

A flashgun and and old-school CCD telly camera. What could possibly go wrong? #TOTP #NotTOTP #DiscoAtTheBBC

Good advice...
A lot of my kit is even older, and pre-megapixel... :-)

Significantly, at the end of Rear Window, when he is in danger in his own apartment, his weapon is his camera’s flashgun; he hopes to blind or dazzle his enemy, and as the man’s eyesight gradually returns, it is through a blood-red dissolve that suggests passion expressed through the eyes.

It's so pretty! But also, I'm so amused by the little TLR being absolutely dwarfed by that flashgun.

Ah then, wider lens, get closer and flashgun, OR the pro route, shoot this kind of scene early in the day when the sun’s not long up!

The Whittaker micro 16 Pixie was a miniature camera for 16mm film, made by Wm. R. Whittaker, Ltd. a maker of aircraft parts based in Hollywood. A wrist strap, a flashgun, a film viewer and different leather cases were the available accessories. vintageadguy.com/opencart/

Bought a Canon battery grip for the R6 mkII so I can power it from two LP-E6P batteries (as well as having more conveniently placed controls for portrait mode) and it's getting to be a chonky beast.

Weighs in at just over 1.1Kg.

I might not be able to lift it with a flashgun added. 😬

My version...
Different intended function though, probably...

I love that the intro to "Flashgun Casey" was written by Bradbury buddy and fellow writer William F. Nolan, who I previously would have believed would not even consider writing this intro.

You can see the Graflex RB, along with the lightsaber* I was using as a handle, tucked under my right arm in this photo taken of me at the photowalk.

* A Graflex 3 cell flashgun**
** But not the model they actually used in Star Wars, as those things are expensive

This puts you in a position where you're ready to focus via the rangefinder & shoot.

I should do another animation one of these days that includes setting up the flashgun. Though that would require to actually source a flashbulb.

Seems I have managed to tear some of the cables off or something, because my flashgun is now completely dead. I might just call it quits, because the big capacitor scares me...

Possible all the mess might have made the capacitor discharge somewhere it shouldn't as well...
